- Remove the dipslide from its tube and immerse in sample.
- Place the dipslide back in the tube and incubate for 24-48 hours.
- Compare the dipside with the chart.
Dipslides are generally used when microbiological activity is relatively high (1,000-100,000 CFU/ml of water) and should be used only as a guide. This is because dipslide accuracy is limited due to the small sample size. However, dipslides have a significant benefit in that they are very convenient, simple to use and inexpensive. Decimal increases in microbiological activity can indicate problems.
